Iri was born in the Golmore Jungle to an endlessly curious and overly rebellious alchemist. The woman would frequently sneak out of the jungle to visit Rabanastre with Iri in tow, decidedly unbothered about the strict Green Word that their brethren adhered to.For the first twenty-six years of her life, Iri was part of two completely separate but fascinating worlds. She'd inherited her mother's burning curiosity for alchemy and science, so she spent much of her time with the woman learning about whatever she could get her hands on.Her relatively peaceful life was destroyed when the Garleans invaded Dalmasca thirty years ago. Seventy-thousand lives were lost. People Iri knew and had befriended in the city were no longer reachable, and eventually presumed dead. Iri and her mother stayed in the forest during most of the onslaught, unable to sneak away while the rest of their tribe was on high alert.Eventually, years into the occupation, their trips resumed. Everything was different. Dangerous. Iri and her mother always wore cloaks to keep their ears concealed, fearful of being recognized as viera from the jungle, but one day, luck was not on their side.The occupying soldiers were brutal. Everything happened so quickly that to this day, all Iri can fully remember is the screaming and her mother's command to run. She made it back to the jungle safely. Her mother did not.Staying in the jungle was too painful for Iri, so nearly a year ago, she left for Eorzea. Somehow, she ended up in Coerthas. Her clothing wasn't quite warm enough to beat out the chill, and she was about to just sit down in a snow drift and give up when someone found her.The elegant au ra dragged her up by her wrist and gave her a stern speech on her actions. Hazily, Iri followed the woman to her apartment and stayed with her for a day while she warmed up and pulled herself together. Zolzaya bought her some new clothes and gave her a bit of gil to get started.Iri's only problem was that...she had no idea where to go or what to do with herself. She asked Zolzaya if she could stay and somehow help the woman with her arcane studies, but Zolzaya laughed her off. Instead, she told Iri about a place in Ishgard that would take her in.

And so it came to be that Iri found herself at House Soleilune.She met up with the head of the house, Amythine, and was allowed to stay under certain conditions that she happily agreed to.
